I too enjoy the mystery of the book. First, the sinkhole swallowing the portables, and then with all of the flash backs of his past, like when he remembered how Eric was moving around him in a clock to see if he was able to see him at certain angles. I do agree that in some parts it is set up like a classic mystery, but they do also talk quite a lot about the sports, soccer and football.
