Why is it that Coraline is initially the only one who can go to the "other side" of the wall, even though others have been taken by the other mother before? What do you think the other mother wants, anyway?
I think that this is because Coraline is the only one that the other mother really wants, and takes all of her loved ones (mother, father) away to lure her to the other side of the house, so she can be her child. The other mother might want Coraline because she thought that she could be a mother to Coraline, due to the fact that Coraline was ignored and bored out of her mind.
