We're reading Crispin, by Avi, and we want to know what you think!
Several students said, before ever reading Crispin, that it was a "boy book."
Are there such things as books that are just for girls or just for boys?
Why might someone think Crispin is a "boy book" just by looking at the cover?

(In my opinion) "Boy books" often have more action, and generally the main character is a boy. I think that girls read "girl" and "boy" books, but boys often stick to "boy" books. There are a lot of teen books that mostly girls read, because they have female main characters and center around things girls are interested in. I can't really think of many very boy books though...Still, some stereotypical examples might be: "Princess Diaries" by Meg Cabot (girl) and...hmm... "Lord of the Rings" (boy. But I don't think there are very clear-cut boundaries. I can think of lots of books with male characters that plenty of girls read (Harry Potter, Bud Not Buddy, Shilo).
Not totally true, but I agree.
